Through the portrait of DANNY, the artist documents the momentous shift from a life of hiding to one of expansive self-expression. SPANNENBURG utilises the upward-reaching stems and complex leaf patterns to mirror DANNY’S own growth and the "unfolding of wings." The artist focuses on the body as a site of history and victory, where the marks of surgery are not viewed as flaws, but as evidence of a hard-won battle for alignment.
